Civil Society

Mobilize.org Mobilize.org, a group that works to increase civic engagement and political participation among members of the Millennial generation, has released a report examining the first year of its Democracy 2.0 initiative. Funded in part by the Carnegie Corporation of New York and the Case and McCormick foundations, the report, Democracy 2.0: Millennial-Generated Change to American Governance (49 pages, PDF), found that Millennials appear to be split on issues such as whether the government is properly serving the public interest in key areas. For example, while 12.8 percent of respondents believed public education was a strength of the government, 7.8 percent said it was a failing. The report also found that Millennials are interested in the formation of youth commissions that are involved in decision-making and civic clubs and organizations focused on action.
