Young Talent in the Great Lakes: How Michigan Is Faring A new report from Michigan Future's New Agenda for a New Michigan project looks at how well the Detroit, Grand Rapids, and Lansing metro areas are succeeding in retaining and attracting young talent compared to other Great Lakes communities with strong economies (Chicago, Minneapolis, and Madison). Funded by the Kellogg, Mott, Hudson-Webber, and Herbert H. and Grace A. Dow foundations, the report, Young Talent in the Great Lakes: How Michigan Is Faring (15 pages, PDF), found that unless Michigan attracts many more younger, better educated individuals to its major metropolitan areas, the state will continue to grow poorer relative to the rest of the nation.
