The Good Practice: Treating Underserved Dental Patients While Staying Afloat
According to a new report from the California HealthCare Foundation, Denti-Cal, the state's primary public financer for dental care, has some of the lowest reimbursement rates in the nation, offering dentists just 30 percent of their customary fees. As a result, only 40 percent of California dentists accept Denti-Cal patients. Based on information collected at six dental clinics, the report, The Good Practice: Treating Underserved Dental Patients While Staying Afloat (39 pages, PDF), offers a number of recommendations designed to help the state's federally qualified health centers overcome barriers to expanding dental services, improve productivity, and increase their capacity.
