Balance: A Report on State Action, to Promote Nutrition, Increase Physical Activity, and Prevent Obesity
In 2007, twenty-five states launched pilot projects or created a task force in an effort to improve the nutrition and physical activity environments for children, a new report produced by the Albemarle State Policy Center finds. Funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, Balance: A Report on State Action to Promote Nutrition, Increase Physical Activity, and Prevent Obesity (130 pages, PDF) commends such actions but notes that further efforts are needed to increase children's access to healthy foods and opportunities for physical activity if we hope to reverse the childhood obesity epidemic.
