Colorado Baby Boomers: Challenges and Opportunities

A recent survey of more than 1,600 Colorado adults born between 1942 and 1952 conducted by the Colorado Trust and the Rose Community Foundation found that this cohort is among the most socioeconomically advantaged in the state. The report based on the findings, Colorado Baby Boomers: Challenges and Opportunities (16 pages, PDF), also found that approximately two-thirds of Colorado baby boomers are working full-time or are self-employed, 55 percent live in households with an annual income of more than $50,000, and only 13 percent are without health insurance. While many of the respondents look forward to full retirement at or around the traditional age, others want and expect to continue working into their late sixties and beyond — preferably on a part-time or intermittent basis and not necessarily in their current position or field.
