Giving in Oregon
According to Giving in Oregon: Report on Philanthropy (6 pages, PDF), giving in the state in 2005 was up by almost $100 million over 2004 — the third-largest increase in the past nine years. Education received the most contributions, while human services showed the greatest growth in the total amount donated. Published by the Oregon Community Foundation, the study, which includes giving information for every county in the state, also found that Oregonians' average donation as a percentage of income remained flat, while volunteerism was strong.
