The bilingual Guide to Health Programs (16 pages, PDF) provides families and community organizations with descriptions of free and low-cost public and private healthcare programs serving low-income Californians. In addition to information about programs designed for children and adults, the guide offers information about cross-border programs and includes a chart showing federal poverty level income eligibility and definitions of "qualified" immigrants and "public charge," a term used in immigration law to describe persons who cannot support themselves. Funded by the California HealthCare, David and Lucile Packard, California Wellness, and Blue Shield of California foundations, the guide was developed and distributed largely by the Health Initiative of the Americas.
