National Philanthropy Day
For almost twenty years, individuals in the United States and Canada have come together on National Philanthropy Day (November 15) to celebrate the ways in which philanthropy affects their lives and reflect on the spirit of giving. A great place to learn more about celebrations in your area is the calendar of events at the National Philanthropy Day Web site. Elsewhere, Learning to Give, an initiative developed by the Council of Michigan Foundations, has developed philanthropy-related lesson plans for teachers in grades K-2, 3-5, middle school, and high school. In addition, the site provides briefing papers for people and organizations in the field, as well as a customized search engine.
