Economic Impacts of Residential Abandonment and the Genesee County Land Bank in Flint, Michigan A study conducted by the Land Policy Institute at Michigan State University documents work by the Genesee County Land Bank to alleviate the burden of abandoned and tax-foreclosed properties in Flint, Michigan. According to Economic Impacts of Residential Abandonment and the Genesee County Land Bank in Flint, Michigan (56 pages, PDF), while abandoned housing decreases the values of nearby houses, GCLB programs have mitigated some of the adverse effects.
