A Coastal Impact Study: Nation Under Siege, Sea Level Rise at Our Doorstep Architecture 2030, an initiative funded in part by the New York City-based Rockefeller Brothers Fund, examines how a climate-induced increase in sea level would affect the 53 percent of Americans who live in and around coastal areas. While previous studies have focused on a six-meter rise in sea level, A Coastal Impact Study: Nation Under Siege, Sea Level Rise at Our Doorstep (34 pages, PDF) is based on an increase of just one meter. The report found that at that level, the United States will be vulnerable to catastrophic property and infrastructure loss as well as large population disruptions and economic hardship.
