Health Care in the Aftermath of Hurricane Katrina Two years after Hurricane Katrina devastated the Gulf Coast region, New Orleans residents are still struggling to return to normalcy in their lives. To help track the rebuilding efforts in the city, with a special focus on the healthcare needs of residents, the Kaiser Family Foundation has created a Health Care in the Aftermath of Hurricane Katrina page that offers links to reports, surveys, audio and video interviews, podcasts, and other resources. Included is the foundation's house-to-house survey, Giving Voice to the People, which provides an overview of the ongoing struggles of New Orleans residents, and a new survey brief, The Future of New Orleans: Young Adults in the Greater New Orleans Area, which describes the plans of New Orleans residents between the ages of eighteen and thirty-four and their outlook for the future.
