Commissioned by New America Media, California Dreamers: A Public Opinion Portrait of the Most Diverse Generation the Nation Has Known (21 pages, PDF) finds that California youth are strong believers in the American dream, cite marriage and parenthood as life goals, harbor deep concerns about family stability and community violence, and are as apt to define their identity by music and fashion taste as by the color of their skin. The survey is the first youth poll conducted entirely by cell phone.
