Education, Entrepreneurship, and Immigration: America's New Immigrant Entrepreneurs, Part II
A report released in January found that a quarter (25.3 percent) of all technology and engineering companies started in the United States between 1995 and 2005 boasted at least one founder who was foreign-born. In Education, Entrepreneurship, and Immigration: America's New Immigrant Entrepreneurs, Part II (30 pages, PDF), a follow-up study funded by the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, researchers at Duke University and the University of California, Berkeley tracked the educational backgrounds of immigrant entrepreneurs who founded technology or engineering companies over that ten-year period and found a strong correlation between educational attainment and entrepreneurship.
