Sipping Fuel and Saving Live A new report from the International Council on Clean Transportation finds that numerous fuel-efficiency technologies exist that can improve automotive fuel economy without compromising passenger safety. Funded by the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, the report, Sipping Fuel and Saving Lives: Increasing Fuel Economy without Sacrificing Safety (37 pages, PDF), urges policy makers to reform the nation's fuel-economy standards and calls on auto manufacturers to utilize advanced materials and designs to reduce the height and weight of SUVs and pickup trucks and implement current technologies to improve the fuel economy of light-duty vehicles.
