Hispanics/Latinos

Hispanic Early Education Hispanic children, especially those from disadvantaged circumstances, lag behind non-Hispanic whites on most measures of school readiness and achievement, including reading and math test scores. To help close that achievement gap, Para Nuestros Ninos: Expanding and Improving Early Education for Hispanics (76 pages, PDF) recommends that Hispanic children be enrolled in high-quality education programs as early as possible. The report was produced by the National Task Force on Early Childhood Education for Hispanics, which also recommends that the federal government expand the Early Head Start and Head Start programs to help ensure that disadvantaged Hispanic children have greater access to high-quality infant/toddler and pre-K programs.
