TV Food Advertising to Children

According to a new report from the Kaiser Family Foundation, food is the top product advertised to children on television. The largest study of its kind ever conducted, Food for Thought: Television Food Advertising to Children in the United States (PDF, 59 pages) is based on a detailed analysis of more than 8,000 ads appearing on the most popular television networks for children. Key findings of the report include the fact that, of all the food ads examined, 34 percent were for candy and snacks, 28 percent were for breakfast cereal, and 10 percent were for fast food.
