Massachusetts Labor Supply
According to
Mass Economy: The Labor Supply and Our Economic Future
(124 pages, PDF), Massachusetts was the only New England state to experience a decline in available workers between 2003 and 2005. Funded in part by the
Boston Foundation
, the report from
MassINC
and the
Center for Labor Market Studies at Northeastern University
also found that the state's stagnant labor force is the result of workers, especially those with limited education, dropping out of the workforce and/or leaving for other states.
