National Public Health Week, April 2-8
To mark National Public Health Week, April 2-8, the American Public Health Association will focus on the needs of five groups: mothers with children in the household, food banks, hourly employees, schools serving children in kindergarten through 12th grade, and individuals with chronic health conditions such as diabetes, asthma, cancer, and high blood pressure. To help address the needs of these populations, APHA has released Take the First Step! Preparedness and Public Health Threats: Addressing the Unique Needs of the Nation's Vulnerable Populations (42 pages, PDF), which targets families, schools, and businesses with information designed to prepare them for public health emergencies.
