World Water Day 2007
This year, World Water Day, on March 22, will focus on Coping with Water Scarcity, with special emphasis on the increasing significance of depleted water sources worldwide. Events and activities held in conjunction with the observance will address the need for increased cooperation at the international, national and local levels to ensure sustainable, efficient, and equitable management of scarce water resources. World Water Day grew out of the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development in Rio de Janeiro in 1992, and the UN General Assembly has proclaimed the ten years from 2005 to 2015 as the International Decade for Action: Water for Life, also known as the Water Decade.
