California Children and the Child Health and Disability Prevention Program Many children in California who are eligible are not enrolled in the Child Health and Disability Prevention Program Gateway, which is designed to provide access to Medi-Cal, the state's Medicaid program, or Healthy Families, a low-cost insurance program for children who do not receive or qualify for Medi-Cal. The CHDP Gateway: Barriers to Successful Enrollment in Medi-Cal and Healthy Families (18 pages, PDF), a new report funded by the California Endowment, suggests ways to enhance the program and increase coverage of children in the state.
