Reforming Teacher Education
Reforming Teacher Education: Something Old, Something New (198 pages, PDF), a new report from the Rand Corporation and the Manpower Demonstration Research Corporation, evaluates the Carnegie Corporation of New York's Teachers for a New Era initiative, which has supported new approaches to teacher education at eleven colleges and universities since 2001. The report, funded by the Ford, Rockefeller, and Nellie Mae Education foundations, assesses the initiative in the context of other teacher education reform efforts, estimates its potential to improve student learning, and examines the sustainability of its practices beyond the initiative.
