Predicting and Preventing High School Dropouts Unfulfilled Promise: The Dimensions and Characteristics of Philadelphia's Dropout Crisis, 2000-05 (52 pages, PDF), a new report from the Center for Social Organization of Schools at Johns Hopkins University, identifies trends in Philadelphia's public high school graduation rate, based on data from schools and social service agencies. Funded by the William Penn Foundation, the study notes the key characteristics of students who do not complete high school and recommends ways for educators and leaders to prevent kids from dropping out.
