Faith, Community, and Civic Action: Reflections on the Organized Religion Initiative (52 pages, PDF) looks at how six California faith-based institutions used community organizing to encourage immigrant and low-income communities to become more involved with civic leadership and the political process. Among other things, the report partly documents the results of a ten-year James Irvine Foundation initiative that supported more than twenty organizations in their democratic renewal and community action efforts.
