Giving in Oregon Up Except for Arts
According to the Oregon Community Foundation's tenth anniversary report, Giving in Oregon (18 pages, PDF), gifts to the state's nonprofit organizations increased more than 50 percent between 1997 and 2003, surpassing $1 billion for the first time. The study, which tracked 9,880 nonprofits, also found that giving to education, human services, and the environment increased consistently over those six years, while arts organizations saw little growth.
