The Need for Greater Support for the Arts in San Diego
The first in a series of regional studies from the San Diego Foundation, pARTicipate San Diego: The Case for Increased Cultural Patronage (36 pages, PDF) finds that arts organizations in San Diego County are under-supported compared to other communities, despite residents' involvement in cultural activities. Funded by the James Irvine Foundation and U.S. Bancorp, the report outlines the community foundation's long-term plan to translate community involvement into increased participation, larger audiences, and greater financial support for the arts.
