A Comparison of Religious and Secular Nonprofits in Indiana Faith-based and secular charities in Indiana address community needs but differ in how they achieve their goals, a new report from the Center on Philanthropy and the School of Public and Environmental Affairs at Indiana University finds. The report, Indiana Nonprofits: A Portrait of Religious Nonprofits and Secular Charities, looks at the differences between Hoosier congregations, faith-based organizations, and secular charities, and encourages state and local policy makers to take note of them when designing initiatives targeting religious groups.
