State of American News Media 2006
The State of the American News Media 2006, the third annual survey of the news media landscape by Columbia University's Project for Excellence in Journalism, highlights the ongoing transformation in the way Americans acquire their news, as an ever-growing number of consumers shift from traditional news outlets to online sources and/or become content creators themselves. According to the study, which was funded by the Pew Charitable Trusts, the consequences of the shift from traditional news outlets have been profound, with newspapers and television stations forced to cut staff and the amount original of reporting they do.
