Assessing Home Visitation Programs for New Mothers in Cuyahoga County, Ohio

Welcome Home and Early Start: An Assessment of Program Quality and Outcomes, prepared by the Chapin Hall Center for Children at the University of Chicago, evaluates two home-visitation programs in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, that target the needs of children through age 5. The Welcome Home program provides teen and first-time mothers with a home nurse visit when they first bring their babies home, while Early Start offers extended home-visitation services for new parents who need ongoing assistance. The report identifies each program's strengths and limitations and discusses the implications of its findings going forward.
