The Ties That Bind: Women's Public Vision for Politics, Religion, and Civil Society (140 pages, PDF), a new report from the Institute for Women's Policy Research, with support from the Ford Foundation, documents the motivations, experiences, and leadership development of women who head faith-based social justice organizations. The report, part of a larger project based on in-depth interviews with women (and a few men) involved in community activism, argues, among other things, that the values and vision of women can have a transforming effect on American politics, religious institutions, and women's movements.
