The Science of Aging Gracefully
Most experts agree that successfully delaying or preventing diseases associated with aging would have a profound impact on work, families, and the economy. The Science of Aging Gracefully: Scientists and the Public Talk About Aging Research (32 pages, PDF), a new report from Public Agenda, finds that the public is more supportive of basic aging research than the official position of the two major political parties might lead scientists to believe. Prepared for the Alliance for Aging Research and the American Federation for Aging Research and funded by the MetLife Foundation, with additional support from four foundations and a pharmaceutical company, the report assesses the potential of aging research as well as the status of developments that could slow advancement in the field of aging research.
