Kaiser Factsheets on the Medicare Prescription Drug Benefit
The
Medicare Prescription Drug, Improvement, and Modernization Act
of 2003 goes into effect on January 1, adding prescription drug coverage to enable elderly and disabled Medicare beneficiaries to enroll in private plans that contract with the program. To help consumers decipher the information, the
Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation
has produced two fact sheets: the
Medicare Prescription Drug Benefit
(2 pages, PDF) and the
Medicare Prescription Drug Plan by State, 2006
(2 pages, PDF). The foundation also provides a
Medicare Drug Benefit Calculator
so consumers can determine their costs under the new plan.
