Interview With Executive Director of Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana

Hurricane Katrina eliminated almost sixty square miles of Louisiana's southeastern coastline and turned fresh marshes along the state's western coast into brackish ponds. In an interview (7 pages, PDF) conducted by Charles Stewart Mott Foundation communications officer Maggie I. Jaruzel, Mark Davis, executive director of the Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana, discusses the ecological and policy challenges the state now faces. Founded in 1988, the Baton Rouge-based nonprofit advocates for wise stewardship of Louisiana's coastal waters and shoreline; raises public awareness about the need to protect them; and works to gain state and federal support for a comprehensive restoration plan.
