Sports Racial and Gender Report Card
The 2004 Racial and Gender Report Card (88 pages, PDF) assesses the hiring of women and people of color by the country's professional and amateur sports organizations. Published by the Institute for Diversity and Ethics in Sport at the University of Central Florida and written by institute director Richard E. Lapchick, the report notes improvements in gender hiring practices among professional men's basketball, football, baseball, and soccer leagues, and improvements in racial hiring practices in professional football and women's basketball. The John Thompson Foundation funded the effort.
