(overview; full document, 40 pages, PDF), a report from the National Forest Protection Alliance, profiles the country's most endangered national forests and details some of the threats they face. Among the report's key findings: the federal government, including the U.S. Forest Service, continues to advocate for logging; Oregon has more at-risk national forests, representing some of the country's most diverse old-growth forests, than any other state; and logging of Eastern forests increasingly threatens rare backcountry recreation areas.
