Connections - Before and After Disasters: Federal Funding for Cultural Institutions
Since 9/11, effective emergency management has become a higher priority for the cultural community, and more institutions are interested in developing disaster plans, providing staff training, and better protecting their collections. Before and After Disasters: Federal Funding for Cultural Institutions (36 pages, PDF), published by Heritage Preservation, directs arts centers, libraries, archives, museums, historical societies, and historic sites to the resources they need. It contains summary descriptions and contact information for fifteen federal grant and loan programs, and covers sources of federal assistance for preparedness, mitigation, response, and recovery. The report was funded by the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the National Endowment for the Arts.
