Activities for National Book Month in October
October is National Book Month. To celebrate, the National Book Foundation has compiled activities on its Web site for schools and libraries. Suggestions include sponsoring a book trivia contest similar to a spelling bee, having students send letters to authors, hosting a book swap at school, and assigning family reading for homework. The site also offers reading lists for children, young adults, and adults, as well as specialized lists for students of English as a second language or English for speakers of other languages.
