Developing Successful Principals: Review of Research (32 pages, PDF), a new study from the Stanford Educational Leadership Institute, examines the available research and literature on the design of principal preparation and development programs and offers a number of recommendations about how to create scalable models that can bring effective leadership to America's schools. Part of a three-year research effort funded by the Wallace Foundation, the report also examines the elements of effective school leadership, provides examples of successful program design, and explores questions related to policy reform and finances.
