9/11 Response

Connection: Chronicling the Rebirth of Ground Zero

Project Rebirth aims to document the entire reconstruction of the World Trade Center site in New York City. Six 35mm time-lapse motion picture cameras, situated around Ground Zero since the six-month anniversary of 9/11, shoot one frame of film every five minutes, seven days a week, and will do so until the historic reconstruction is completed. The site provides Web-cam live footage on the home page, as well as eight photo albums, including images of the third anniversary commemoration of 9/11; the transit hub, now under construction; revised Freedom Tower designs; and views from time-lapse cameras. When the project is completed, the technology will allow the public to see the complete reconstruction of the site unfold within a twenty-minute time span.
