Aging

Accommodating an Older Population According to Demography Is Not Destiny, Revisited (120 pages, PDF), a follow-up to the Commonwealth Fund's 1999 report, Demography Is Not Destiny, the critical challenge of an aging society is not so much how to accommodate an older population, but how to ensure the productivity of future workers, regardless of age. The report points out that, in general, seniors between the ages of sixty-five and seventy-five today are healthier, wealthier, and better educated than their parents or grandparents were at a similar stage of life, and as a result their needs and their ability to contribute to society are likely to be different as they grow older.
