What’s different now is that the money is in the hands of people who speak one language, and that language boils down to return on investment. And the social service people speak a language of the needs of their constituents and of entitlement. When people in social services speak as though the invocation of those needs creates an entitlement, they aren’t going to reach people in the new economy.
University of Texas business school professor Steven Tomlinson commenting on the "language barrier" that exists between many New Economy entrepreneurs-turned-philanthropists and traditional social service providers.
