Irvine Public Schools Foundation Receives $25,000 Gift from Wells Fargo
The Irvine Public Schools Foundation received a $25,000 gift from Wells Fargo & Co. as part of a $1.6 million pledge made by the foundation to the Irvine Unified School District. The pledge was made after Irvine voters rejected a flat parcel tax, thus creating a $4 million school budget gap. Without the gift, school trustees were considering slashing school programs including enriched music, arts and science programs. Budget cuts would also have included teacher layoffs and increased class sizes. The foundation still has to raise approximately $900,000.
