The Las Vegas-based Lied Foundation Trust has awarded a $2 million grant to the Animal Foundation in Las Vegas. Part of an effort to end the practice of euthanasia for adoptable, healthy pets, the gift will fund a new spay-neuter clinic and shelter to increase the capacity to house animals. Another $500,000 must be raised by the Animal Foundation in order to meet the $3.4 million cost of the project.

Church School Receives $2.5 Million Gift from Anonymous Trust
St. Mary's School in Buffalo Grove, Illinois has received a $2.5 million gift from an anonymous trust. The unnamed trust also gave gifts to four other Chicago-area parochial schools: St. Benedict High School, Queen of Angels School, and St. Bartholomew Catholic School. St. Mary's intends to use the gift to fund the construction of an addition and renovation of the existing school building.

Packard Foundation Awards $1 Million to Form Gun Violence Prevention Task Force
The David and Lucile Packard Foundation has awarded a $1 million
grant enabling California youth to form a 12-member Youth Task Force (YTF) to develop a national plan for ending gun violence.
YTF will work to establish a comprehensive prevention program over the next three years and expand it nationally.
