The Foundation Center's multi-year initiative to tell the story of 9/11 has come to fruition with the publication of September 11: The Philanthropic Response. This compendium volume provides a rich collection of information about the outpouring of charitable dollars, as well as fresh perspectives on the people and events that shaped philanthropy's response to 9/11. Anchoring the volume is our fourth and final research report, Giving in the Aftermath of September 11: Final Update on the Foundation and Corporate Response, a comprehensive overview of the more than $1.1 billion of grants awarded by 1,339 foundations and corporations through September 2004.
The volume also includes a complete guide to the funders and their grants, a long-view commentary by Lester Salamon, a compilation of Tom Seessel's reports on the relief and recovery activities in New York City, a timeline, and a bibliography. Read the press release.
