Display Screen

The display screen is divided into five segments:

• Centered at the top of the screen is the taxonomy name.
• The top section of the left window contains the expandable term list.
• The bottom section of the left window contains search functionality uses external search engines to look up terms.
• The right window will display help or individual term data.
• The bottom of the screen has four buttons:



1. return to the NTEE home screen, which includes the help screen
2. display the hierarchy term list in hierarchical sequence
3. display the hierarchy term list in expanded hierarchical sequence
4. return to information about grants classification

Expandable Hierarchy

The default term list is an Expandable Hierarchy presentation, which initially displays the top terms in the hierarchy. The plus sign "+" next to a term indicates that narrower terms are available. Click on the "+" to drill-down in the hierarchy. Click on the term of interest to display term data (scope and other notes, narrower terms, related terms, broader term(s), etc.) in the right window.

Complete Hierarchy

You can also display the entire hierarchy, and choose individual terms from the complete list. Use the scroll bar on the right of the window to select a hierarchy portion. Click any term within the hierarchy term list window to display term data (scope and other notes, narrower terms, related terms, broader term(s), etc.) in the right window.
