Spotlight On

Mission:
Boys & Girls Club of Vineland (formerly Broaden Your Horizons) was established in 1997 and its mission is to help empower Vineland area youth by providing after-school programs that involve them in recreational, cultural, educational and community service activities. The major goal of the programs is to help build young people's integrity and self-esteem and, at the same time, reduce the community drug and alcohol problems and reduce the crime rate. The organization strives to accomplish this mission by providing a safe and nurturing environment for all Vineland area youth.

Background:
Boys & Girls Club of Vineland/Broaden Your Horizons was established to rebuild the Vineland inner city. By 1999, membership had risen to over 100 young people and the main activity facility grew from a school multi-purpose room to a junior high school gym. By 2002, membership grew to over 300 due to the popularity of the programming. Also, activities were being held at several different locations, including public venues where student members have presented shows and demonstrations.

Our programs are fun and interesting which help build self-esteem and good habits and are aimed at leading our young people to better career and life options. Boys & Girls Club of Vineland is a valuable program since young people's time is well spent which means less crime. Mentoring and school study incentives mean better grades, a better future workforce and a stronger community.

Funding Needs:
Funding is very important to the Boys & Girls Club of Vineland. Your contribution or grant will help us continue our work and expand or create new programs.

Every month, the "Spotlight On" highlights the activities of a different 501(c)3 nonprofit organization located in the tri-state region (NY, NJ, or CT). The selection of organizations for the "Spotlight On" is based on criteria such as programmatic interests, geographic focus, and size, to ensure the broadest possible representation of the region's nonprofit sector. While the Foundation Center strives to showcase the diverse range of organizations in the area, selection for "Spotlight On" does not constitute an endorsement by the Foundation Center.
