Description:
The Westchester Arts Council recently announced it would receive $10,000 from the Ronald McDonald House Charities for its 2004 Summer Youth Photography Job Training Program. The collaboration between the Westchester Arts Council and the White Plains Youth Bureau helps twelve high school age students learn about photography, reporting, research, and marketing skills.
Peter Samaha, a McDonalds owner/operator notes, "We're glad to be able to help the summer job training program and to give the kids this amazing opportunity…Students who otherwise couldn't afford this program can now devote their summer to learning about photography. We're dedicated to helping children and, by extension, their communities."
This year's participants plan to make the diverse communities of White Plains the theme of their projects. A photography exhibit organized by the students will be open to the public from August 4 to 12 at the Arts Exchange, 31 Mamaroneck Ave, White Plains, NY.
