Ms. Foundation Promotes Diversity in Public Policy
The Ms. Foundation for Women recently announced the grantees for its new initiative, "Public Voices, Public Policy: Realizing the Power of Women of Color." Seven community-based organizations led by women of color will each receive $75,000 in general operating support. The Ms. Foundation will also provide training and guidance in areas such as media outreach and networking. This additional support to the grantees will be invaluable as their leaders advocate for their communities.
Sara K. Gould, president and CEO of the Ms. Foundation for Women notes,
"With Public Voices, Public Policy we are implementing a more focused approach to increasing the voice and power of women of color in the policy-making process, as well as addressing policy in a broad framework."
The National Latina Institute for Reproductive Health was one of the organizations receiving Public Voices, Public Policy grants. Based in New York, the educational and advocacy group strives to improve the quality of life and reproductive health of Latinas across the nation.
