High School for Global Citizenship Established with Support from Several Foundations

Last month Global Kids, Inc., in collaboration with the New York City Department of Education and New Visions for Public Schools opened the High School for Global Citizenship (HSGC).

Based in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn, the new school will utilize Global Kids' leadership development model and help students understand how international events affect their personal lives. HSGC's interdisciplinary curriculum will be supplemented with special learning opportunities including an annual youth conference and an internship program.

Part of the New Century High Schools Initiative, HSGC will also receive funding from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the Carnegie Corporation of New York, and the Open Society Institute.

"Global Kids Inc. Opens Small High School in Brooklyn to Focus on World Affairs and Civic Engagement." Global Kids, Inc. Press Release, 9/20/04.
