Panel Discussion: Sustaining Community-Based Health Organizations
New York
A special "Funding for Health Month" program.
Join us for breakfast on May 22 as community health experts and co-authors, Marcia Bayne Smith and Yvonne Graham, Brooklyn Deputy Borough President, present research highlights from their recent book, Community-based Health Organizations: Advocating for Improved Health. Then join local community-based health organizations at different stages of their organizational development to discuss challenges and successful strategies to start, sustain, and grow.
Discussion points will include:
- Scaling up from birth to maturity while staying true to community roots
- Understanding sustainability as part of the organizational life cycle
- Increasing fundraising success by developing boards and infrastructure
- Distinguishing "allowable" advocacy from restricted nonprofit activities
