Foundation Center Elects Yvette J. Alberdingk Thijm
to Board of Trustees
New York, NY — March 5, 2009. The Foundation Center, the nation's leading authority on organized philanthropy, has elected Yvette J. Alberdingk Thijm to its board of trustees. Alberdingk Thijm is the executive director of WITNESS, a global human rights organization that uses video and online technologies to open the eyes of the world to human rights violations and empowers people to transform personal stories of abuse into powerful tools for justice, promoting public engagement and policy change.
Alberdingk Thijm has nearly two decades of experience in media and new technologies. Prior to joining WITNESS in August 2008, she served as executive vice president of content strategy and acquisition at Joost, the global online video platform formed by the founders of Skype and Kazaa. Before that she was executive vice president of business affairs for MTV Networks International, where she oversaw business affairs for all of its branded businesses and channels worldwide (outside the U.S) and was a key contributor to its international growth and ventures into new media.
"We are excited to welcome Yvette to the Center's board," said M. Christine DeVita, chairman of the Center's board of trustees and president of the Wallace Foundation. "We look forward to drawing on her expertise in both the nonprofit sector and innovative media technologies as the Center pursues new ways to provide knowledge for the field of philanthropy."
